A Day in the Life:
This role will support the Corporate Accounting team and our expanding organization. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, your responsibilities will include assisting in the development and preparation of bank reconciliations, financial statements, budgeting and variance analyses, reporting as well as ad hoc projects and other tasks as requested. This role will be instrumental in the month-end close process and will work closely with other departments.
What You'll Do:
Works independently to complete accounting functions for Alliance Residential Company ("ARC"), including bank reconciliations, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsible for the month-end close process to include working directly with the regional operating leadership team(s) and/or corporate department heads to complete research and reclass entries as needed to support detailed variance analysis and reporting
Adheres to monthly and/or year-end closing calendars to deliver timely financial reporting packages.
Researches and resolves basic and complex accounting problems.
Independently analyzes issues and makes recommendations for solutions and resolutions that are implemented and followed.
Able to work independently to sets and adhere to priorities for work duties depending on the needs of the business and pending deadlines.
Works with and communicates with both internal and external clients at high levels of the organizations in the performance of their day to day duties.
Able to draft communications and analyses regarding accounting research and findings and present findings to senior level accounting staff on a regular basis.
Able to exercise discretion and judgement to ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Assists with ad hoc projects and other tasks as needed.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
B.A./B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
One to two years of previous accounting experience required
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required
Previous experience with cash and accrual accounting preferred
Working knowledge of GAAP, and local accounting rules, policies and requirements preferred
Strong analytical and reasoning skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal customers.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing work requirements, multiple deadlines and competing demands
Ability to identify, research and resolve problems

Ability to work during normal work hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) as well as evenings and weekends.
Consistent, regular and in person attendance during regular working hours at the workplace is required.
