Financial Analyst
The Financial Analyst will be located at Asset s corporate office in Houston and will be heavily involved in the business development efforts of Asset pertaining to acquisition and development opportunities pursued by Asset s current and prospective management clients. The job entails working alongside members of the Business Development sales team and requires preparing analyses, executive level memos, financial modeling, budgets, and underwriting to guide decision making.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate multifamily and student housing acquisition opportunities to provide guidance on their suitability for client investment
Perform discounted cash flow analysis using Excel underwriting model to assign valuations to assets
Interpret and explain deal-level return metrics and other key performance indicators
Make hold/sell/refinance recommendations for client-owned properties based on analysis of existing financial statements
Create full budgets pre-takeover for potential management changes
Produce high-level budgets and rental rate suggestions for new construction projects
Formulate opinions on feasibility and extent of capex projects and renovations to existing properties using financial modeling techniques paired with market knowledge
Conduct submarket and comparable property research in order to formulate market rent recommendations
Stay informed of industry and macroeconomic trends (through CoStar, broker publications, and other sources) and act as a knowledge resource for assigned target market(s)
Assist with the creation and maintenance of business intelligence tools for use by Asset s Business Development department
Work closely with sales team members to service client consulting requests
Education & Experience
Bachelor s Degree in business or related field
Excellent critical reasoning, quantitative, and analytical skills
Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proven organizational skills with attention to detail
Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
Ability to prioritize and work within strict deadlines, while simultaneously managing several projects
