Job Description Summary
Responsible for providing guidance and oversight of all Payroll policies, practices, and platforms to ensure efficiency and accuracy in the delivery of company payroll.

Essential functions and responsibilities
- Senior level Payroll Advisor in a large and complex organization supporting Canada employee base
- Responsible for providing Payroll Tier 2 level support to 2000+ employees.
- Responsible for mentoring/training the Payroll Coordinators/Administrators
- Demonstrate critical thinking, compliance knowledge, and managerial leadership as well as expertise in Payroll programs and processes
- Partner with the Payroll team and leadership to perform data analytics and lead special projects which drive payroll improvements and integrations
- Responsible for items that require expert payroll knowledge such as payroll/tax compliance, special/unique payrolls, CPP, vacation payments, etc.
- Resolve routine issues and questions within the scope of existing practices under direction of Payroll leadership
- Communicate and implement specific aspects of payroll and associated training sessions; provide communication strategy for new programs
- Serve as the HR/Payroll point of contact and provide customer service to all field HR representatives/employees and effectively communicate all payroll related information
- Auditing data integrity between Workday HRIS and Payroll
- Manage and process payroll. Identify/resolve errors and supervise others including the preparation of data in order to calculate payrolls within a defined timeline, data entry, coding and deciphering appropriate payroll data
- Manage payroll allocations; provide direction to both corporate operation team and employees in the field
- Direct communication with Financial Planning & Analysis as allocations drive payroll billing
- Collaborate with A/R team to identify and correct invoicing and allocation errors
- Manage garnishment process; review all information for consistency/accuracy and provide direction to team members on appropriate procedures
- Support the submission of tax, garnishments, and bank files in accordance with internal company procedures
- Maintain direct ownership of tasks/projects
- Create/edit ad-hoc reports within the JDE payroll software and provide accurate data to management when requested
- Maintain strong HR/Payroll policy knowledge
- Complete special projects/duties as assigned
- Troubleshoot payroll and system issues
- Position will serve as key team member on system upgrades and testing
- Multi jurisdiction payroll tax/regulatory knowledge

Important education
- Associates degree in related field, Bachelors degree preferred, or equivalent experience required
Important experience
- 4+ years of professional or related experience
- Working with multi-jurisdictional, T4 eligible employees
- File integrations/file feeds between various systems
- Intermediary knowledge of tax law/compliance is required
- Highly skilled in Excel and other reporting tools
